José Angelo Braga de Vasconcelos

José Braga de Vasconcelos holds a PhD in Computer Science (2002) at the University of York (UK) and a Master (MSc) in Computer Informatics (1997) at the Engineering School of the University of Minho. Currently, he develops research in the area of knowledge engineering and data science, including several publications in relevant scientific journals.
Associate Professor at the University Lusófona, Portugal. Head of the Department of Computer Engineering and Information Systems at the University Lusófona (Porto University Centre). Research integrated member of the Cognitive and People-Centric Computing (UNINOVA-CTS / COPELabs). Academic director and principal investigator at the University Lusófona of the Sustainable Information Technologies for Societies European Project (2023-2029) which implements the Joint Master degree in Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Societies. He is also an expert evaluator and reviewer for the European Commission in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes, acting as a research consultant in software engineering and computer science.
Writer of technical publications (books) about Algorithms and Data Structures (2005), Game Programming Technologies (2013), Python programming language (2015), and Data Science with Python (2017).
