Conceição Costa is a PhD in Communication Sciences - Media Studies from FCSH-Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She is an Associate Professor at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário de Lisboa and a Coordinating investigator at CICANT (DOI 10.54499/UIDB/05260/2020) in Lisbon, Portugal. She is a lecturer at Bachelor degrees, Master degrees and Doctoral degrees at ECATI, teaching curricular units related with Communication and Technology namely: Human-Computer Interaction (Informatics Engineering bachelor degree); Research Methodologies (Game Design Master degree); Media and Education in the Master of Teaching Visual Arts for the 3rd cycle of Basic and Secondary School; Social Marketing and Advertising (Cinema, Video and Multimedia Communication bachelor degree); Media and Literacies in PhD in Communication Sciences. She was a member of the COST Action ISO906 (2010-2014) and has been involved in several European publications about children, media literacy and Game-Based Learning. Her main research interests are media and children, particularly how media consumption and creation create opportunities for learning, expressions of identities(s) and citizenship. She was the Principal Investigator of GamiLearning project (UTAP-ICDT/IVC-ESCT /0020/2014) funded by FCT and the coordinator of ECFOLI in Portugal (ERASMUS+) and MILT- Media Literacy for Living Together, funded by the "Media Literacy for All Programme" of the European Commission and of GBL4deaf - Game-Based Learning for Deaf Students funded by FCT and LISBOA2020. She is a research member of the bYou project of Minho University (PTDC/COM-OUT/3004/2020) funded by FCT. Currently she is the PT coordinator and a research member of EPIC WE - Empowered Participation through Ideating Cultural Worlds and Environments: youth imagining, creating and exchanging cultural values and heritage through game-making funded by Horizon Europe.
