DTN-Amazon: Delay Tolerant Networks for the Amazonia Region (2011-2013)

 COPELABS Coordination: Paulo Mendes

The DTN-Amazon project aims at allowing any device to communicate directly to any other device without the need to rely on servers (e.g. email servers) in scenarios where devices may be mostly disconnected from a communication infrastructure (e.g. ISP).

As its name suggests, the project starting point is the Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) architecture to support wireless communication in sparse and dense scenarios.

The project aims to develop a new information and Context Oriented Networking framework based on the CCN concept (which we call ICON framework), in order to test the usability of the ICN concept for networking in disruptive scenarios.

  • Duration: 2010-2013

  • COPELABS: Paulo Mendes, Waldir Moreira, Bruno Batista
