Prof. Dr. Carlos J Costa, ISCTE - ORCID

Carlos J. Costa is an Associate Professor at ISEG (Lisbon School of Economics and Management), University of Lisbon since 2017. Carlos is an IEEE and ACM Member. He is the Chair of EuroSIGDOC/ACM. He was the president of the ACM Conferences Scientific Commission and  EuroSIGDOC/ACM. Carlos holds a PhD in Information Sciences and Technologies, specialization in Information Systems and Database by ISCTE; he holds an MSc in Management Sciences by ISCTE and a Bcc in A.G.E. by the Portuguese Catholic University. His research interests include: Information Systems Theories, in particular the adoption of Information Systems, ERP, and Open-Source.

 

Prof. Dr. Joel Rodrigues, INATEL (Brasil) - ORCID

Joel Rodrigues is a professor and senior researcher at the National Institute of Telecommunications (Inatel), Brazil, and a senior researcher at the Institute for Telecommunications, Portugal. His main research interests include Internet technologies, sensor networks, mobile and ubiquitous computing, vehicular communications, e-learning and e-health technologies, mobile and cloud computing. He his the leader of the Internet of Things research group (CNPq) and has authored or co-authored over 550 scientific publications. He is an IEEE and ACM Senior Member, Member of the IEEE ComSoc Board of Governors as Director for Conference Development, IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer, the Past-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on eHealth, and the Past-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Communications Software. Joel is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of E-Health and Medical Communications (from IGI Global, USA) and the Recent Advances on Communications and Networking Technologies Journal (from Bentham Science, USA). He is the Symposium Co-Chair leader of Several ICC/GLOBECOM conferences, among others.

 

Mr. Diamantino Costa, ISA - Intelligent Sensing Anywhere

Diamantino Costa (Dino) is founder and Managing Partner at DCVentures, a seed capital firm investing in IT for Health and Security verticals. He founded and serves as Managing Partner of Ganexa Capital, a seed capital investment LLP. He is Chairman and CEO of ISA SA, an IoT company operating mainly in Energy and Oil & Gas markets.

Dino co-founded Critical Software SA, that he recently exited. Critical Software SA is an international software company headquartered in Coimbra, Portugal, with offices in Lisbon, Bucharest, Romania and San Jose, California. He is also a Board member at Critical Software Technologies Limited, UK, Critical Links, US and Critical Materials, PT. At Critical Software, he is responsible for the Business Development, including R&D strategy. He was formerly in charge of Business Development for Aeronautics, Space, Defence and Transport markets at Critical Software, supervising European business operations. Dino was also an invited professor for Tech Based Entrepeneurship.

Dino holds a BSc and an MSc in Informatics Engineering and Computer Systems Architecture from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. At Critical Software, he successfully growth and manage 2 business units operating on Space & Ground Software Systems, with a global customer base including the main world space agencies and leading Prime Contractors.

Dino has been a researcher at the Dependable Systems Group at the Center for In-formatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra since 1993 and prior to joining Critical Software. During his research activities, he has been author of more than 20 papers on conferences, workshops, magazines, and book chapters on the subject of computer software dependability. He is a member of IEEE since 1998.

 

SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD (2013-2017)

Prof. Dr. Roch Guérin (Chair of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Washington University, St. Louis) received an engineer degree from ENST, Paris, France, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Caltech. He was the Alfred Fitler Moore Professor of Telecommunications Networks at the Electrical and System Engineering department of the University of Pennsylvania from 1998 to 2013. Prior to joining Penn, he spent many years at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in a variety of technical and management positions. From 2001 to 2004 he was on partial leave from Penn, starting Ipsum Networks, a company that pioneered the concept of route analytics for managing IP networks.
Dr. Guérin has published over 200 papers in international journals and conferences, and holds over 30 patents.  Prof. Dr. Guérin has been an editor for multiple ACM and IEEE publications and in 2009 became the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking. He has also served as General Chair or Program co-Chair for several ACM and IEEE sponsored conferences. Dr. Guérin is an ACM (2006) and IEEE (2001) Fellow. In 1994 he received an IBM Outstanding Innovation Award for his work on traffic management. He received the IEEE TCCC Outstanding Service Award in 2009, and was the recipient of the 2010 INFOCOM Achievement Award for “Pioneering Contributions to the Theory and Practice of QoS in Networks.” He was on the Technical Advisory Board of France Telecom for two consecutive terms from 2001 till 2006 and on the Technical Advisory Board of Samsung Electronics in 2003-2004. He joined the Scientific Advisory Board of Simula in 2010.

Dr. Christophe Diot  (Chief Technology Officer, Safran Analytics, France) received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from INP Grenoble in 1991. With INRIA Sophia-Antipolis (93-98), Diot pioneered diffserv, single source multicast, and peer-to-peer online games. At Sprint (98-03), he pioneered Internet measurements. Diot was with Intel Research from 2003 to 2005. With Thomson and Technicolor (2005-2015)  he started two research labs in Paris and Palo Alto and served as Chief Scientist. Diot joined Safran Analytics in September 2015 as CTO. Diot has around 20 patents and more than 300 publications in major conferences and journals. He is an ACM fellow.

 Mr. Peter Michael Gits(GeekGaps, USA), GeekGaps founder, was with Cisco between 1997 and 2003.  Some of his major accomplishments are: over 90 Patent Submissions, 10 Issued, 10 Pending, and 1 Published.  Gits has contributed to efforts such as the first distributed VOIP SIP implementation at Cisco based on Jini from Sun Microsystems, cofounder of the Cisco Angel Network, inventor of "network presence", "transparent walls", and "digital graffiti".  Today he is responsible for a project named NetLurkers where he has facilitated a partnership with multiple cross-bu teams, 3rd party mobile developers, and Cisco employee's contributing their 20% innovation time to seed ideas, innovations, and 1.0 mobile prototypes creating a shared revenue model that showcases the power of the network through augmented reality.

Andrea Gaggioli holds an M.S. degree in Psychology from University of Bologna and a Ph.D. in Psychobiology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Milan. He is a researcher at the Psychology Department ofCatholic University of Sacred Heart, Italy, and consultant at the Applied Technology for Neuro-Psychology Lab (ATN-P LAB) of Instituto Auxologico Italiano, a biomedical research institute based in Milan. Prior to working with these organizations, I collaborated with the Competence Center for Virtual Reality at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, Stuttgart, Germany.http://docenti.unicatt.it/ita/andrea_gaggioli/

Thomas Schubert Thomas Schubert holds a Diploma in Psychology and a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Jena, Germany. He is now an Associate Professor of Social Psychology at the Department of Psychology at University of Oslo, after working as a Postdoc and researcher in Jena, Würzburg, Amsterdam, Utrecht, and at ISCTE in Lisboa. His research focuses on embodiment, social cognition, and social relations, and on how to use technology from virtual reality to microprocessor boards to enrich psychological research. He has published in psychological, communication, and technology journals.

Experienced Executive Manager in Telecom and IT markets. Has held several management positions in the R&D division of Siemens and Nokia Siemens networks in Lisbon. Relevant management experience includes Operational management, corporate strategy and Innovation management. Presently holds the position of General manager at SQS Portugal and for the past two years was COO of the Olisipo group, also acting as managing Partner in the group's business incubator.
