1. HIGHLIGHT - ITS TRANSPORT ECOSSYSTEM FORUM

COPELABS participated in the ITS Portugal event Transport Ecossystem Forum (Forum Ecossistema de Transports) which took place on January 11th 2011, having been hosted by EP - Estradas de Portugal. The Transport Ecossystem Forum is an event which aims at igniting discussion concerning business opportunities related to Information Technologies/Transportation.

The January event provided an overview on the status of the different working groups of the Forum as well as on new opportunities both from an industrial and academic perspective.

2. COPELABS COPELABS collaborates with Cisco Systems in the area of Future Internet

COPELABS has established a cooperation with Cisco Systems within the context of Future Internet. The cooperation framework aims to address a set of ongoing activities related with trend and opportunity scouting for Cisco Systems at an European level, namely in the context of the seventh Framework Programme (FP7) in topics such as the network of the future, cloud computing and Internet of services. Within COPELABS this cooperation is being coordinated by Paulo Mendes.

3. COPELABS collaborates with Huawei in the area of user-centricity in mobile networks

COPELABS has established a cooperation with Huawei Technologies Düsseldorf GmbH aiming to investigate new technologies in the area of user-centric networking and mobile access core. This partnership is set as a three-year framework contemplating support for a PhD student whose hosting institution is COPELABS . The student that integrates this framework is Mr. Bruno Batista, currently a PhD proponent on the MAP-I doctoral Programme on Informatics, a joint doctoral programme by University of Minho, University of Porto, and University of Aveiro. Within COPELABS this cooperation is being coordinated by Rute Sofia.

4. API Closes 2010 with 3 White Papers

 

The Interest Group Approaches for an Internet of the Future (API) hosted in 2010 three events dedicated to the topics of dot-socialism impact on Internet design; the role of information-centric paradigms; virtualization aspects. The summarised outcome of such events is now available in the form of three white papers which are available to the public domain in the API site .

API is a national and voluntary initiative dedicated to the debate of paradigms related to Internet services and Technologies and has as 2010 Steering Committee COPELABS/ILIND/COFAC (coordinator); Universidade de Aveiro/IEETA/IT; Universidade de Coimbra; Portugal Telecom Inovação, Nonius Software.
