Self-Evaluation Tools for e-Inclusion in HEI

Self-Evaluation Tools for e-Inclusion in HEI

Project Acronym: SET4Inclusion
Programme: Erasmus+
Action Type: KA220-HED - Cooperation partnerships in higher education
01/09/2022- 31/10/2024
Background
Education’s digitalization can positively impact students and their learning success. Still, at the same time, it can also pose a significant barrier for some students, especially students with different disabilities or special needs. The project aims to improve inclusive digital capabilities of the higher education sector to enable equal educational opportunities for all students, especially for students with disabilities or special needs. The common motivation for the project of all involved High Education Institution (HEI) partners is to respond to the challenges revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting accelerated digitalization of teaching and learning processes in HE, which has put some students, especially SEND students, in an unequal position when trying to participate in digital education. After realizing that many students face problems while following educational content and performing their duties online (at least 10 –16% of students by estimates of the partners HEI), HEI partners want to do something about this problem. At the same time, the HEI partners believe that addressing this issue is the partial answer to a HE question from years ago; why are several students underperforming, why are the published contents so poorly understood, why so many students fail to finish their obligation, and more. Addressing inclusiveness is believed to be one of the answers/solutions.

Project’s Aim and Objectives
Digitalization of education can have many positive impacts on students and their learning success, but at the same time, it can also pose a significant barrier for some students, especially students with different disabilities or special needs. The project aims to improve the inclusive digital capabilities of the higher education sector to enable equal educational opportunities for all students, especially for students with disabilities or special needs. The current project has five primary goals: (1) To develop Self-evaluation tools for HE institutions and HE teachers to determine the inclusiveness of their digital education. (2) To develop various microlearning units on Inclusive digital education for HE leaders and HE teachers. (3) To collect and describe several good practices for Inclusive digital education. (4) To develop an E-learning platform as a central knowledge point for Inclusive digital education. (5) To organize an International Conference on the topic.
