Bio:

FranciscoJ. Melo Pereira was born 67 Years ago, has a degree in Computer Science and Electronics, post graduated in Management for Value and in Advanced Municipality Management. CIO in the City Council of Portimão for 28 years, and Teacher of Mathematics and Informatics for the last 43 years, is currently a researcher and a student of ubiquitous systems in the PHD program "The New Media and Pervasive Systems (NEMPS)”.

This research aims to, with the help of mobile phone traces from daily life citizen´s, infer the existence of new POI's in smart cities, which increasingly provide the quality of life and well-being of citizens.

Title: Inferring Human Behavior via Smartphones

Abstract:

This presentation with the Title: “Inferring Human Behavior via Smartphones". In short, in response to the problem that Cities present increasingly surprising aspects regarding their points of interest (POI – Points of interest), and that each day are created more POI’s, and in the unawareness of the interest for the populations in certain points of their city.

We think that with the inference of citizen’s private and collective behavior in their daily life, we can correlate data from different users, based on Edge betweenness and spatial correlation, and be able to extract similarities in this behavior and consequent analysis of the data, leading to the identification of POI’s. We want also to propose some algorithms to fulfil these expectations
